Civic education and awareness raising to citizens on progress of peace processes: GOHURA will conduct civic education on provisions of national and community level peace accords, the obligations of citizens and public authorities in implementing those accords. GOHURA will also share useful lessons from successful peace processes within and outside the country to promote learning and transformation to the culture of peace and non-violent resolution of conflicts.

Dialogues on peace and conflict mitigation: GOHURA will create platforms for community dialogues focusing on identifying conflict triggers and mitigating potential conflicts. The dialogues will also help communities to build trust and proactively participate in peace building initiatives. As an impartial entity, GOHURA will extensively use dialogues to bridge gaps in the South Sudanese society.

Create a platform for public discourse on national identity and unity: Civil and intercommunal conflicts have left the South Sudanese society divided along political, ethnic and regional lines. These divisions are unhealthy for unity of common purpose that is necessary for social cohesion and national development. GOHURA will create platforms for civic engagement on the question of what unites the people of South Sudan and how those elements could be strengthened and promoted.

Reconciliation, trauma healing and counseling among conflict affected communities: Multiple conflicts in South Sudan including the post-independence civil conflict and persistent intercommunal conflicts have shredded the social fabric of the South Sudanese society and fomented hatred among people and communities across the country. To respond to this challenge, GOHURA will work with relevant community structures and public institutions to promote honest reconciliations, healing and counseling among the people and communities. Support Strengthening of the capacities of traditional authority leaders: Culturally, traditional authority leaders are custodians of community norms, peace and reconciliations

Issue based advocacy: Issues affecting the society get attention when they are clearly articulated and presented to relevant authorities. GOHURA will lead advocacy initiatives that elevate the voices of communities on issues that require attention and action from public authorities.
